2023-12-06

Anna Borgenvik, Ida Larsson and Virginia Panara have been awarded grants from the Swedish Research Council to spend post doc periods abroad.

Two of the researchers have received funding to spent post doc periods in the United States. Anna Borgenvik will focus on identifying new therapy targets for the brain tumour type glioma in children. Ida Larsson’s project focuses on understanding the cellular conditions behind early tumour formation in medulloblastoma. Virginia Panara will perform her post doc in France where she will study the evolution of lymphatic vessels and re-absorbtion of fluids from tissues – from sharks to humans.

The purpose of the international post doc grants is to give newly qualified researchers with a doctoral degree from a Swedish university the opportunity to expand their networks and their competences by working abroad under secure employment conditions. In the 2023 autumn call for postdoc grants in the area of medicine and health, the Swedish Research Council approved 11 out of 19 applications. For post doc grants in science and technology, 50 applications were submitted, out of which 15 were granted.
